Hey fellow Squids! I'm capn' Fayne, a top 50, top level Pirate with a lust for 2 things: Starship wreckage, and relationships. I'll be turning this thread into an ongoing lamentation of my battles with pixels and pixies, while remaining more than open about ideas and conversation. I'm about to graduate with a English degree and an emphasis in creative writing and publishing, so this will serve as a fun side project to distract me from my real work. Shouts to our fellow SQUIDS and the wonderful people behind this board! I'll post more things soon!
When I began playing Pixelstarships, I was going through a very complicated breakup. The game was a welcome distraction, and the community that popped up around it was more than entertaining. I only stick around games that produce real experiences, and this seems like a very unique one! Thanks again to the efforts of StormHunter and his awesome welcoming attitude. But anyway! Before alliances were even a thing, I would drunkenly post how my dates were going on the KIK, and one day I, also probably intoxicated, told Storm I would start a love and battle blog on the board. AND HERE WE ARE.
Today's Goals:
Lazers: Climb to 3250, at least. I'm struggling to stay relevant, though I've just pushed all my character levels to 30. Glad to be a supportive squid nonetheless Love: Got a date tonight. She hasn't seen Scott Pilgrim. Fucking golden. We've exchanged goodnight cheek kisses but nothing more. I'm going to attempt putting my arm around her tonight. Wish me luck!

So I'm seeing the short haired one tonight. So the plot thickens: long haired comm major is the ex girlfriend who flew off to Thailand for a semester and then broke up with me over the phone.
Short Hair - Poet, Triple Major, Chess Player, Hardly Sleeps, Loves Red Wine, Loves Cats n Dogs, plays piano Has a dark past, self identifies as a man-eater. Long Hair - Fiction writer, Double Major, Chess Player, Piano and Ukulele Player, knows my family, is a strict straight-edge, loves camping *has broken my heart.

Being a physicist myself I'll have to be on #teamshorthair! And, dont let a girl who once broke your heart break it again But to be honest, just go with your heart. Dont think about who can what or not. Which of them makes you feel the best, which one brings out the best side of you, which one makes you laugh, which one says the same things as you are thinking, and who are you thinking about before falling asleep and when waking up in the morning? So now you got the opinion of a girl who is a hopeless romantic Good luck with your date tonight!

Thanks Queenmyla, your insight goes a long way! And that's awesome you're a physicist, we need as many women in science as possible! And it's strange, long hair and I are very opposite, but managed to have a 2 year relationship. Short hair and I are like the same person, and have been rapidly getting to know one another over the last few weeks. It's actually more exciting than getting my lvl10 ship.

Yes, I think its important to have about 50/50 men and women in science because that gives us all greater potentials as scientists And how did your date go? Im really excited to hear! I would say go for the girl who are very similar to you! I guess you both still have a few different interests too so you can still learn from each other and grow? I just truly believe that having minds that works in a similar way is a great benefit

Hey SQUIDS! Fayne here. Sorry for the delay, I'm currently in a death-match with the American College System to finish my degree. But you all deserve to know about the DATE. Wow. What a night, my squids. She treated me to late night dinner, and we hung out and watched some anime at her place until around 2:30am. The arm was successfully deployed, and a great deal of cuddling was had. It's funny, how calming a new relationship can be. I'm diagnosed with depression and anxiety and usually have bad habits of coping, but with this girl I'm calm as a clam. Or Nightlane in his ship. At the very end of the night, a smooch was exchanged. We're going to a party and hanging out some more tonight, wish me luck! And I wish everyone good fortune with the last days of the tournament! I might be able to climb to top 50, but not if I've got a girl on my arm.

Im glad your date went well! Are you two still going strong? I have anxiety too and I find it very hard to date, so I know how important it is to find someone that makes you calm instead of triggering your anxiety

As someone writing up their PhD thesis (Physics, obviously) the whole anxiety thing is unfortunately normal for people near the end. Imposter syndrome and I are good friends in spite of me being on a ridiculous number of papers and being very highly regarded in the department for a grad student. There is literally a mental health crisis in university. But love in life is never a bad thing. I'm much happier now that I've moved back home with my wife and cats and am finishing writing a few hundred km from school. Much harder for people to ask me to do things for them. Being bad at saying no is why I have so many papers and so very, very much stress. In any case good luck at finishing up! It gets better. Unless you go to grad school. Then it gets worse...
