Crew AdviseHere is a list of our favorite 3-Gem Uniques. We also tried to give you some advise about the best way to use them on your ships. We only listed the ones we think are the best choices to keep, If you feel strongly someone else should be included.. let us know!
(Keep in mind, these are 3gems.. you can get them with mineral draws! DON'T buy them with starbucks from drop ships!!! save that for 4-5gems!)

All this crew can be obtained easily with mineral. And, in my opinion, I would keep only from gentleman (that looks more like a miner) up in that list.

Yup, that's my point: don't spend bux on these when offered by the Dropship!

cat boy's ability is now 480, combined with his 9hp, he makes a decent tp-strike then shield...
in fact, you may need to visit all of the crew since the system hack rebalance...

in regard to catboy his skill has been changed to an EMP like skill now, vs before when it would just discharge the room's charge. EMP will disable an enemy room for a short period of time. However i don't feel this is any vast improvement on this crew member. Having 9hp is not as useful if you cant fight, cant repair and can't boost a rooms effectiveness well. To use the EMP ability you would need to teleport this crew member who has a max 2 attack (the lowest of anyone we listed) onto the enemy ship.. As the attacker he will not get first shot. If he comes face to face with anyone with a critical attack or heal ability he will lose. And the effort of sending him to the enemy ship will net you about 1.3 emp missile worth of delay to the room you beamed him into. I listed him because he has abnormally high HP but his use is very limited as he is poorly balanced. If hes an attacker, his ability and attack damage are poor. If he is a shield room guy (others are better) his ability is useless and his repair rate is poor.

i've yet to level him to his full potential however, my intended use will be to have a medical room next to the shield room, two caras in the shield, the three cat boys each tp into their shield room in sequence, and then join the shield/medbay rotation.
ai wise;
cara: you have no active shield, use special ability current health < 50%, target your medbay none, target your shields
catboy: none, use special ability current health < 50%, target your medbay current health < 100%, target your shield room enemy ship > 50%, target enemy shield room none, target your shield room
the advantage is, i don't need a missile launcher to drop those emp's...

i'll admit it's a niche application, and his stats are awkward, but most characters have a little awkwardness built into them.

you are trying to use a teleporter and crew to EMP a shield room. The return on EMP'ing a shield room is pretty low, and the use of (i think) the most powerful weapon system (your teleporter) to do it seems like a very costly way to go about it. I'd recommend replacing your catboy with a Jessica or Simon and beaming them to shield room (with 50% health trigger to return to heal) and simply holding the shield room vs the enemy crew.. This is stronger then EMPing the room and you might kill multiple enemy crew if it goes well.
Also consider Male Nurse has 6 HP.. if you put a trigger to use his ability if he falls under 50% health he has an equivalent 9-10hp.. but he will do 2.6 damage max.. and has almost as much shield skill. this is why i'm rating catboy so low. But in the end this is my personal opinion, don't let what i say stop you from experimenting.

@stormhunter i'm really not arguing with you, and i've fired my third Cat Boy with your input.
i've been playing for about three weeks, have ~2200 trophies, and arrived in Lost Eden (via Canada, Black Skulls, Omega Pack; excepting the first, all within a few days) a week and a half ago with a crew mostly comprised of Caras, Visiri Captains (referred to as "Alien" in the chart above), Verunuses (Veruni?), Male Nurses, an Astronaut, an Evil General, and my first Star Bux draw: Zhao Yun (i believe the best 4gem character). i'm lv9, though many of my rooms are sub-par upgrade-status.
i'm sure that as my experience grows, my opinion will sway towards yours, but in the meantime, a single Cat Boy (lv11) with ~250EMP, followed by Zhao Zun (lv21), with three Visiri's (lv17-22) boosting the TP seems to be working pretty well...i think that in the future, Cat Boy will make a good meat shield for another character with higher attack when boarding and attacking defended rooms...
i'd like to point out that the advantage to Cat Boy being the first boarder, and targeting in the Shield Room is: the Shields are not charging from the instant that he TPs - it's a savage early attack for newer players.
it's easy to look back and say "...Verunus was better than Cat Boy...", from where you are (with multiple Heroes) - please consider that for newer players (with almost exclusively >4 gem crew), Cat Boy offers a vicious EMP attack at lv10 (probably completely different than the experience you had with this character), and continues to serve as a 9hp meat shield for higher attack characters in boarding efforts where enemy characters are guarding rooms.
