The newest beta added some extra things to check out, so lets cover them!
(no clue why they went backwards in version number lol)
*Multiple Images! may take a long time to load.. data intensive!!!
*This is a BETA test!! things can and do change! prices of items or stats of equipment will be altered before release.. things seen here might not even make the public game!!
First off, a new loading screen and a new app icon!
We found the new RPG like minigame as an additional single player mission called "Achernar" We travel to Achernar with our crew! Why you ask? Because apparently it was bright!
So you tap the send crew button and you are given the choice to pick 3 crew.. what amazing special powers might my crew have? (spoiler: none) I foolishly pick a mix of 3.. (the number above their head is the crew members max life, my crew are not all max level yet,so the life is based off their possible max not their current hp max! so level 1 or level 40 will get the same health in this minigame.
Edit: My mistake, the current HP is based off their actual HP! i was under the impression i was using my real crew when i made that false assumption!
So how this seems to work is somewhat rock paper scissors. (I only played twice but this was my general understanding)
Attack: fires a laser shot, if the enemy attacks or charges it will hit them for damage. It will also stop the enemy from completing their charge action.
Defend: A shield pops up around your crew reflecting back a basic "attack". Blocking Charged 1 Attacks. BUT not able to block Charge 2 Attacks.
Charge: A diamond icon appears over the crew members head making his future Attacks not reflect back when the enemy Defends and doing more damage. Charge again successfully to get a bigger diamond icon that will now let Attack hit the enemy for damage even if they Defend.
Ya.. so i got my but kicked.. lol. But lesson learned.. no reason not to just take the highest HP crew..
that was still pretty hard.. i don't know how people with normal crews will win unless they make this a bit easier. Or hopefully the difficultly was based on my crew, ship level or draw cost?
Anyway thats it for RPG stuff.. not much to it yet, but i'm sure they will continue to expand it! Also the menu had a new meowface.. i mean chat mute option.
I tested the carrier option a bit more to see if any other players on beta had one up so i can fight carrier to carrier. As far as i could tell (again not a lot of time sadly) the mini ships do not attack each other or defend your ship in any way. They simply travel to the enemy mother ship and start firing.. The anti craft laser starts to fire back, and from what i saw can destroy a level 1 interceptor in about 4 hits before it can even get a shot off. it took more hits to kill the level 1 defender, but i didn't get an exact count. I did discover however that even if the power is cut or the hanger room is destroyed, the mini ships will continue to fly and fire! Destroying the hanger only stops new ships from launching. I upgraded my interceptor to level 2, but other then a price increase i saw no effect on what few stats are listed.
In other news, a big congrats to Citizenband of Dark Matter for getting married recently! And also a big hello and welcome to all our new members from Crimson Blood Oath! I hope you find a warm home here with us Squids!
