the 1x1 armor blocks are all well and fine, but I would like to see some other variations of armor introduced. I feel the two most logical would be a 1x3 horizontal 'armored deck' and 2x1 vertical 'armored airlock'. armored deck three Lv 1 armor blocks offer 3%. the armored deck would offer 1% more per level, every level over three armor blocks. ex.
| three 1x1 | armored deck | lv1 | 3% | 4% | lv2 | 6% | 8% | lv3 | 9% | 12% | lv9 | 27% | 36% |
while it doesn't seem like much, the trick would to be able to find a way to use the ends and get the full 36% while only touching one part of the deck. if this seems like to much then reducing it to a 1x2 piece could work, making the max 27% for a 1x2 block. ----------- armored airlock while you already can use a armor block and lift tube to achieve a similar effect, this would be a 2x1 vertical piece that allows crew to pass through while offering armor protection to all rooms touching it. currently the block/tube combo doesn't affect rooms below it and the max you can reach is 9%. the airlock would offer max 18% or the same as two current armor blocks while allowing crew to pass.

a different solution might be to have powered armour, that lowers your total reactor max per block but gives alot more armour and could even double as a crew lift too to make it more desirable?

a different solution might be to have powered armour, that lowers your total reactor max per block but gives alot more armour and could even double as a crew lift too to make it more desirable? that could work too. give it a icon like the other ship systems on the bottom of the battle UI. off it acts like regular armor block, on it doubles or triples it's protection offered. maybe even make it variable. one bar of power doubles protection % two bars triples protection %

special armor to shield a room against porting into it would be nice as well i thought about this as well. if you used this to block teleports into say... your shield room. enemies could port in else where and walk to your shield room. if you isolated your shield room and used this port blocker. then enemy's could destroy your shield room with ship weapons and you would have no way to get crew to it, to repair it. I feel that we would need a few 1x1 blocks to make effective use of a port blocker, or it would have to be a 2x2 or 2x3. allowing more of your other rooms to touch it and gain it's port blocking protection.

thinking about this, it would be cool if at some point we could customize our rooms a bit instead of only increasing their base numbers.
i.e. Shield: additional function to block ports vs. less power consumption vs. more room armor vs. shield strength or Storage: additional function: hide x amount of minerals/gas from attackers vs. more storage or Engine: additional function: low chance on dodging turrent projectiles vs. more dodge cs. more room armor vs. less power consumption or Teleporter: additional function: port more people at once vs power conumption or Bridge: additional function: prolong fight time vs. better chance to escape or Mining Laser: additional function: extract gas vs more minerals vs ...
and so on. maybe the max level stay as they are but with ship level xx you could buy/ specialize your room in one of the improvements
