There are many people who find the crew missions impossible, so here are a few tips. (Storm, maybe you could add some version of this to the captains handbook or whatever it's called.)
The basics:: There are three moves in crew missions. Charge, which can be piled up to have more powerful attacks, attack, which shoots the current enemy and takes away any charge, and defend, which creates a shield that protects the crew members health.
The effectiveness of shields against charging: if you shoot at the enemy with no charge and they defend, the attack will bounce back and damage you. If you shoot with one charge and the enemy puts up their shield, it will have no effect on the enemy and not bounce back at you. At two charge, it gets through their shield.
Strategy:: at the beginning, it is usually a good idea to charge first. If the enemy shoots first, They are likely to shoot as their next move also. If you just need that one shot in and you have one charge, you can just keep shooting, because no matter what they do, it will end with the enemy dying. Rarely, the enemy exhibit strange behavior of charging extremely high until you shoot at them. If an enemy charges to 3, it's probably best to shoot at them next. If an enemy shoots at you twice in a row, they are likely to charge next.
