We told all our members and the public we disbanded and reformed our alliance to fix its name. There was a bit more to the story however, here is the account of events as promised.
Summary:
Zulras held the rank of founder in our alliance, however he was very inactive in the game itself. Zulras knew little of what was happening in the alliance and would make uninformed decisions. Our own members didn't know who he was and he failed to even donate a single crew member to the alliance this month. This bothered many of the elders of the alliance, but he was occasionally seen in the leadership chat so he had not completely abandoned us.
Over time his actions and words started to rise concern… He had told us conflicting information about his life and his activities. He seemed to have plenty of free time for other games but rarely payed heed to the concerns of the alliance. While most leaders would consult more knowledge members, he would make quick decisions and not investigate their effects. Leadership looked to be slowly to a crawl as important actions could not be carried out as Zul would promise to do things but not deliver. When we confronted him in private about his lack of leadership he refused to give up his position and simply offered more empty promises. The elders agreed that he was becoming a danger to the stability of the alliance we had all invested time and effort into. We drafted plans to reform the alliance without him and enacted them.. We told our members it was to fix an error in the alliance, we fixed a typo and leadership error.
The S.Q.U.I.D. WarFleet you see today was reformed in about 24 hours starting below rank 100 and climbing back to 1st with the hard work and coordination of our elders and members. To all the SQUIDS that returned to us, your loyalty and faith in the alliance and her actual leaders is beyond words.. thank you for believing in us when you could easily have abandoned us to join rival alliances in our time of weakness.
The Reformation:
The elders made 3 plans.. Plan A was to try and gain founder status somehow from zulras. Plan B was to reform the alliance in a massive migration. Place C was the emergency plan to mass kick the remaining alliance members if Zul discovered us. We knew if we were stopped ½ way in plan B we would splinter the alliance and kill it. Plan C insured that inactive members couldn’t bolster the old alliance and let it retain any legitimacy.
Our alliance has a massive roster of old and current members.. it contains multiple data points including which forms of communication outside the game members were using. The alliance uses kik, discord, line and our online forum. Plan A had failed to bear fruit over the weeks.. we wanted to carry out Plan B with enough time before a tournament end date that we could reform and reorganize without disrupting our opportunity to win. We went to work.. our elders spread out, contacting all members and warning them about an impending change. We left details vague, and we apologies about that, but trying to explain the situation then would have resulted in its failure.
Members that had no out of game contact info on file were sent @ messages, some returned in time to get informed of the change. Over the course of a few hours 63% of our members confirmed they understood what to do. We had been planning for 70-80% before trigging the migration but Zul had been spotted and we knew time was running out. We triggered the migration and kept watch over Zul for any hint he had grown aware of the plan. His inactivity allowed us to transfer over our most active members to the new alliance name. However, midway through our migration plan Zul learned of our actions and the elders triggered plan C. All remaining members were to be kicked before we lost our administrative rights. The elders that and remained in the old alliance to shepherd the transfer now left as well to join the new alliance.
We started our vigil, we had no clue if member would return to us when we were no longer first place. Most people believe our members join us so they can win starbux.. That if another alliance gained first place our members would leave us and join them. We know people claim this, that’s why we try so hard to counter it… The elders have always tried to build loyalty in our ranks.. Some might join us because were first place, but everyone should stay because we serve our members, we try to make them better player. Top SQUIDS often sacrifice their time to teach the lower ranks strategy. Our forum is filled with guides and info for our members to learn from. Many of our top players donate their primary crews to lower level members to help boost their growth. We hoped it was enough, it would have been easy to just join one of the other top alliances, they had no reason to rejoin us at rank 100.. rank 67 rank 26..
You know how the story ends.. We are proud of our faithful members, and will now hold an election for the founder status of our alliance. The current “Zul” founder is a fake we made to simplify the transfer. We will draft rules to insure an inactive or unworthy leader will not retain the founder status ever again. Long live our alliance.
