Part 4: A Guide to Single Player, PvP, & Tournaments
Single Player & PvP Battles
Single player missions come in 2 types. The daily missions that come back after 24 hours , and the story missions. The story missions are not replayable once you beat them, but they give great loot! The Single player daily missions will become slightly harder as you upgrade your ship, but they are still very easy to beat and give a small amount of loot also. Daily missions are often used by experienced players for a quick XP boost for their crews. Your crew is rewarded XP equivalent to 10% of your trophy count (just like when you win a PVP battle).
Player vs Player (PVP) You aren’t actually fighting against another human player. What happens is… when you go offline your ship is entered into the PVP pool. If someone picks your ship to attack, they fight your ship.. controlled by a computer called an “AI”. Later in the game, you can build a command room that lets you program the AI yourself! This is one of the best and hardest parts of this game.
PVP Overview
In a PVP battle you are either the Defender or the Attacker...
- Defender: When you close the game or are inactive for a long time the game will think your logged out! When you log out, the game enters your ship into a PvP list. This list of offline players is searchable by online players to pick from and attack.
*Defending ships don't use up their missile or weapon ammo and also are fully healed before and after the PvP fight!
*Defending ships are controlled by an AI! Either by the games default AI commands or commands designed by the player!
If you Win as the Defender: Win Trophies, Gas, Minerals, and your ships surviving crew gain XP! (but can still be attacked again by another ship)
If you Lose as the Defender: You lose Trophies Gas and Minerals but you get Immunity from PvP attacks for 8 hours! You forfeit your immunity if you try and attack another player, but you can still fight single player battles without losing immunity!
- Attacker: When you click the PvP button (in the missions section,) you start a search of offline ships that are close to yours in ship level (We believe its 1-2 ship level higher and lower then your current level.) as well as close to yours in trophy count (it can be a bit higher or ALOT lower). You are then given a rough estimate of the ships resources and trophy count and a look at its outside (glitch sometimes shows the inside for free.) And you have 30 seconds to decide if you want to attack them!
*Attacking Ships use up missiles and weapon ammo any hull damage they had will be carried into the battle they start (if your ship has 2 life.. you start the battle with 2 life)
*Attacking Ships are controlled by an AI, but the human player can take control at anytime. (if you take control of a weapon or crew member, it turns off its AI for the rest of the battle!)
If you Win as the Attacker: Win Trophies Gas and Minerals and your ships surviving crew gain XP! However, any hull damage you took will remain! (but you can attack again if you want too)
If you Lose as the Attacker: See the section below, depending on how you lose, different things can happen!
The Many Ways to Lose when you Attack
Ship Blown Up: Your ship takes enough hull damage that it blows up!
*Lose Trophies, Gas, Minerals, and take Full Hull Damage!
Run Out of Time: If the 3 minute battle time limit runs out!
*Lose Trophies, Gas, Minerals, and keep any Hull Damage you took in the battle!
Retreat Successfully!: You hit the retreat button and your ship enters hyperspace!
*Keep Trophies, Gas, Minerals, but keep any Hull Damage you took in the battle!
Retreat Fail!: You hit the retreat button and your ship blows up!
*Lose Trophies, Gas, Minerals, and take Full Hull Damage!
Surrender: If you try to retreat with your reactors destroyed!
*Lose Trophies, Gas, Minerals, and take Full Hull Damage!
General Battle Advise:
When you're the PvP attacker, try to be adaptable! The popular advise people give for early PvP fights is.. "just shoot the Reactors!" (the power generator rooms) this is actually good advise most of the time.. but there's no reason to turn your brain off and just shoot the reactor every time...
Example: The below ship has 3 people in the shield room.. making the shield recharge very quickly.. also the AI crew is set up to repair the reactors if they take damage!
If you Shoot the Reactors First: Your missile will start hitting the Reactor but the AI crew member will move to repair them! Your lasers and cannon will hit the reactor eventually.. but will have multiple shots blocked by the quickly recharging shields. (The battle will be drawn out, your ship might be badly damaged or destroyed before you can win)
If you Shoot the Shields First: Your missile will start to hitting the Shield Room damaging all 3 crew members at the same time. Your lasers and cannon will hit the Shield Room eventually but the first few hits will kill the damaged crew. When the crew die the shield recharge rate drops significantly and the shield room will be quickly destroyed!
ProTip: I would now aim at the weapon systems next! NOT the reactors. The Shield Rooms destruction will have freed up extra power for the enemy ship, so shooting the reactors wont cut power to the weapons very quickly. Also The weapon rooms have low life, the Reactors have ALOT of life and have AI crew programed to move to and repair them.
Tournaments
Every month is a new tournament! At the start of every tournament the top players are reset down to a Trophy "cap" (for example 5000 trophies) but everyone else gets to keep their trophies from last month! The Top 50 individual players at the end of the tournament are rewarded Starbucks and usually get a free epic crew member! The Top 25 alliances are reward Starbucks also, which are automatically split with ALL their members! Tournaments are the focus of most players, they want to get into the top 50 ranking at the end of the month! When your just starting out with the game dont worry to much about tournaments. Your focus should be to work your way up to ship level 6 and join an alliance! They will help guide you into becoming a top player!
